Tour de France arrives in Luchon

Frenchman Julian Alaphilippe won an eventful stage 16 of the Tour de France after Britain’s Adam Yates crashed late on while leading.

Yates crested the final climb alone but fell on the descent 7km before the finish in Bagneres-de-Luchon.

Alaphilippe was applying the pressure behind and swung past to claim his second victory of this year’s Tour.

Geraint Thomas kept the yellow jersey and leads fellow Briton and team-mate Chris Froome by one minute 39 seconds.

The gentleman, stage right is our good friend, Louis Ferre, the Mayor of Luchon.

Town Sign

Very disappointing that Harrogate’s town entry signage doesn’t compare with the quality and style of other tourist destinations in the region.

Harrogate International Partnerships have the support of several local councillors to champion the replacement and re-siting of the signs at no cost to Harrogate Borough Council, North Yorkshire County Council, or  HIP.

We would also like to add the names of our twinning partners within the new ‘Welcome to Harrogate’ signs. Please ‘like’ or comment if you agree!

Tewit Youth Band off to Barrie

TYB1A group of over 40 young musicians and supporters will be jetting off to Barrie in Canada this August. With tremendous support from benefactors and a great fundraising effort, they will be showcasing their reputation as one of the best youth brass bands in the country. They will be making performances in and around Barrie on nearly every day of their visit. But still have time to see the local sites, including Niagara Falls!
